A 'formal' engagement (10/06/2019)

So this is a story on how I 'formally' got engaged. It might be cringey, but that's just how it is. πŸ˜†It was just another day, where he would pick me up from my house, and grab a bite before he goes back to another state for his work. The same old routine which I am never ever bored of.Today was the same, although slightly different. He had just finished his interview in another state. And he drove back to KL to see me first before going to another state where he lives/works.I got in the car, late, as usual. Argued with him on where to eat, as usual. And we decided to just go to Melawati Mall, since we still couldn't decide what to eat. Being silly kids, we counted the number of rounds we had to make to get to the upper car park (there were three and a half), accidentally parked at the ladies parking section, and realising it once we were already out of the car, and bubbly went inside to find food. Then he said, "lets find an engagement ring".We had this session once. We went to all of the jewelry shops in IOI City Mall and either could not find a cheap one which I liked, or the salesperson was being too brash that I just couldn't wait to get out of the shop. One even commented on how large my finger was, which was very inappropriate. I should have reported to her manager. But this time, there was only one shop, Wah Chan. So we went there, looked for ones which were affordable, but I was split between two rings. One was very classic, with only one diamond on top. A bit 'bulgy' but still within my liking. The other had tiny diamonds on the ring, which I really adore, but the single prominent diamond was not as visible. In fact, it was a kind of like a flower-shaped diamond. The salesperson even took out another ring, which was way above his budget, but the two rings already caught my attention, and I couldn't choose. So I told my boyfriend "kita tangkap gambar jelah. And survey at other shops too. Kalau takde yang ok, kita datang sini balik. Lagi pun, dekat dengan rumah. Ok?". But he insisted to buy now.So I asked him to choose for me. He chose the flower-like diamond. And paid on the spot."So now will you marry me?"How can I ever say no?We got out of Wah Chan, and went to a coffee shop even though he was rushing for prayers. Ordered his flat white and my hot chocolate, and sat at the corner of the shop.He wanted to formally propose. So he took out the box. Tried to open it, without undoing the ribbon and failed. So I undid the ribbon myself and gave the box back to him,"Will you marry me?""Awwwww""Jawab lah""Yesss"And now we are officially engaged! Engaged in the non-Malay traditional way, but yes, happily engaged πŸ’•
